چکیده

آن چه تقدیم مى شود خلاصه اى است از آن چه مایکل سودس (Michael Sudduth) در دست نوشت هاى فصل اول کتاب خود با نام اشکال اصلاح گرایى به الهیات طبیعى (Reformed Objection to Natural Theology) آورده است. این کتاب هنوز به اتمام نرسیده و منتشر نشده است. مایکل سودس تاکنون دست نوشت هاى هشت فصل از این کتاب را در اختیار علاقه مندان به مباحث معرفت شناسى اصلاح شده قرار داده تا از نظریات انتقادى اندیشمندان برخوردار شود و در نهایت، کتاب را منتشر سازد. با توجه به جدید بودن بحث، فرصت مغتنمى است تا به صورت دقیق تر با اندیشه هاى اصلاح گرایان، هرچند به شکل مرورى و گذرا آشنا شویم. امید است این نوشتار زمینه ساز بحث هاى تطبیقى در حیطه مباحث مربوط به وجود خداوند شود.

2. میان (عقلانى بودن) (rationality) یک باور و معرفت (knowledge) تفاوت وجود دارد. هنگامى که انسان به چیزى معرفت مى یابد یا آن را به نحوى عقلانى باور مى کند، در صدد دست یابى به گزاره اى صادق است، اما معرفت به یک گزاره، به این معناست که آن گزاره حتماً صادق است، اما باور عقلانى به یک گزاره لزوماً به معناى صادق بودن آن گزاره نیست. درست است که پیوند وثیقى میان عقلانیت و صدق وجود دارد، اما عقلانیت مستلزم صدق نیست. بنابراین، مى توان گفت که مفهوم عقلانیت در مقایسه با مفهوم معرفت، مفهومى ضعیف تر است. لذا این سخن که الهیات طبیعى، منبعى براى معرفت به خداوند است، دربرگیرنده ادعایى قوى تر در مورد این سخن است که الهیات طبیعى، منبعى عقلانى براى باور به خداوند است.

8. استدلال هاى ماتقدّم (A Priori arguments) متمایز از استدلال هاى ماتأخّر (a Posteriori arguments) هستند. استدلال هاى ماتأخّر مبتنى بر مقدماتى هستند که از تجربه هاى حسى اخذ شده اند، در حالى که استدلال هاى ماتقدّم، مقدمات خود را از تجربه هاى حسى اخذ نمى کنند، بلکه مقدمات آن ها، از حقایق مختلف مفهومى یا منطقى اخذ شده اند که یا به نحو شهودى به دست مى آیند و یا این که از لوازم حقایقى هستند که به نحو شهودى به دست مى آیند.

13. در واقع، آکویناس، استدلال ششمى را نیز در اثبات وجود خداوند دارد که مبتنى بر رابطه وجود و ماهیت است. خلاصه استدلال چنین است: با توجه به این که میان وجود و ماهیت موجودات مادى تفاوت وجود دارد، لازم است علتى فرامادى موجود باشد تا تبیین کننده وجود همه اشیا باشد، زیرا آن چه بودن یک چیز (ماهیت یک چیز) نمى تواند تبیین کننده وجود آن چیز باشد و از سوى دیگر، وجود سلسله اى نامتناهى از اشیاى موجود که دیگر اشیا را موجود کنند، محال است. استدلال لایپ نیتس که در میان استدلال هاى جهان شناختى جاى مى گیرد و در متن به آن اشاره کردیم، شبیه این استدلال آکویناس است. نک:

24. تقریرهاى مختلف برهان نظم همانند برهان علت اُولاى آکویناس، از نظر منشأ به فیلسوفان پیشا سقراطى باز مى گردند. در کتاب دوم از کتاب در باب ماهیت خداوند (De natural deorum) نوشته سیسرو (Cicero)، از طریق نظم استدلال خداگرایانه اقامه شده است. هم چنین گزنفون (Xenophon) در کتاب خاطرات (Memorabilia) (I.4، IV.3) استدلالى را از طریق نظم ارائه کرده است. در کتاب هاى قوانین (886a) و تیمائوس (90a-e) نوشته افلاطون نیز برهان نظم دیده مى شود.

این استدلال نیز همانند دیگر استدلال هاى خداگرایانه در فلسفه سنّتى ریشه دارد (نک: افلاطون، تیمانوس، 28a-c) البته این نکته را باید تذکر دهیم که فقط در برخى از تقریرهاى استدلال جهان شناختى، این ادعا که جهان داراى آغاز است به عنوان مقدمه اخذ مى شود. تقریرهایى که این ادعا را به عنوان مقدمه مى پذیرند، اصطلاحاً استدلال جهان شناختى کلامى (Kalam Cosmological argument) نامیده مى شوند. اما همان گونه که افرادى همچون لایب نیتس، برن (به ارجاعات بعدى مراجعه کنید) و دیگران استدلال کرده اند، حتى اگر جهان داراى آغاز نباشد، هنوز این سؤال مطرح است که چرا اصلاً جهان در زمانى متناهى یا نامتناهى، وجود دارد.
