The problem of evil is one of the main challenges of theology and one of the central issues of the philosophy of religion. Two main versions generally present this issue, the "logical argument" and the "inductive argument," which emphasize the incompatibility of evil with an Omniscient,, Omnipotent, and the All-good God. The answers divided by Tooley into "total refutations," "defenses," and "theodicies". ʿAllameh Jaʿfari does not consider any of the answers given in the philosophical and theological tradition of Islam to be sufficient and believes that one should try to know man, God, and the universe, and man's relationship with these two. By examining his views, it becomes clear that two aspects can be identified. On the one hand, he considers afflictions and adversities as a condition for perfection or "heavenly ego," which is an Irenaeus theodicy and is comparable to Hick's soul-making theodicy. On the other hand, he believes that by passing through the "natural self" and reaching the heavenly ego, man achieves a"higher understanding" so that he does not see any evil, and thus, there is no need to justify it, which can be considered as a "total refutation" of the problem of evil.
