Historian's approach in civilization studies should be based on the principles that guide his analysis of historical trends. Considering that the historian's approach is rooted in various factors, the type of his encounter with the phenomenon of civilization and its connection with other elements of civilization is also different. Marshall Hodgson is a civilization researcher who uses an ethical approach in civilization studies based on the nature of civilization; It is an attempt to understand the true position of civilizationsSuch an approach originates from his compassionate spirit, which pursues world peace through the passage of sympathetic civilizations. Hodgson's main work is on Islamic civilization as a global model of religious civilization. His approach is based on principles that consider realism as a starting point for analysis; He knows an important principle and by criticizing Western exclusivism, he analyzes the way religion works in civilization. A descriptive-analytical method has been used in this research.
