Philosophers have always contemplated on causality and efficient cause as a part of their philosophizing. Before Mulla Sadra, philosophers divided efficient cause on the basis of various criteria. Mulla Sadra expanded their division gradually and divided efficient cause in a way that it was accompanied by some innovations. One of these innovations was the proposition of the theory of "Appointed agent" (subordinate agent). Among Mulla Sadra's different divisions of the types of agent, this theory has faced ambiguity, different interpretations, misunderstandings and serious criticisms. Explaining Sadrian meaning and concept of " Appointed agent " and providing two expositions for it, the present paper seeks to resolve misunderstandings and incorrect interpretations and prove that the concept of " Appointed agent " is a Sadrian innovation which acquires meaning in Mulla Sadra's philosophical system and that division of capture(Altskhyr) (subordination) into natural, psychical and accidental ( Postural) ones proves his ability in proposing other types of causality with no precedent.
